COACH COURSE GRADUATE

Have you gone on to use your rating? YES!! I’m now a wingsuit coach and organizer at Skydive Perris and Skydive Elsinore. Additionally, I enjoy going to events focused on newer skydivers, such as Fresh Meet and IFly Ladies Night and being able to work with all skill levels. I love being around friends, no matter the skill level. My coach rating is used every day I jump/fly with those around me, keeping us both heads up, safe, and having fun!

Would you comment on our professionalism and thoroughness in preparing you to be a Coach? Angie has been a wonderful mentor, both leading into the Coach Course way back when, as well as since. Whenever I see her, she’s been so excited to see how I’ve progressed in the industry. I’m certain she’s one of my biggest cheerleaders, and it all goes back to getting to know her while she was at the Skydive Perris (skydiving) School and then afterwards through the knowledge and passion she was able to pass on through the courses she taught.

What has been your biggest accomplishment since getting your rating? Getting asked to be an organizer for an east coast wingsuit event – Skydive Orange’s SIS/Liberty Boogie – I was on cloud nine getting asked to travel, to go play in the sky and help out at another DZ that isn’t local to me. Coming up is our ladies She Flocks, (an all ladies wingsuit event) at Skydive Perris – 40+ women, all different suits and skill levels. It’s going to be fantastic!

Is there anything we could have done better to prepare you? My biggest lessons learned in Organizing have come as a result of things I didn’t assume or things I didn’t see/recognize soon enough. I’m not sure that that can necessarily be “taught”. I’ve also come to understand the extent to which psychology plays in my role as a “leader”. It’s not just about what I can “do”, what someone else can/can’t “do”, and/or what I can “teach”. Perception, perspective, and the psychology of both the other person and myself are aspects of my leadership/organizing/coaching that I’ve started to recognize at play, more and more.
