The Tandem Instructor Course prepares you to take the general public on tandem skydives as students.

Every flight and landing under a tandem canopy changes due to the passengers weight therefore having a solid proficiency of canopy piloting skills and landing skills in necessary to take this course.






The Tandem Instructor Course can be divided into 3 Phases and
can be completed in 4 days (weather permitting):

The "Instructional" phase, will be spent in a classroom setting learning the theoretical part of Tandem Skydiving

The "Practical" phase, will be spent jumping with or under the supervision of a Tandem Instructor or Evaluator

03

The "Integration" phase, will be spent jumping with experienced skydivers in order to gain more experience prior to jumping with members of the general public. It is our goal to complete all 10 jumps with each candidate.

Candidate Requirements:

    Must be over 18

  • 2

    Hold or has held any USPA Coach or Instructional rating

  • 3

    Earned a USPA D License or Foreign Equivalent *must have a USPA D License if using tandem rating in the USA

  • 4

    Logged 500 jumps on a ram-air canopy * Logbook required!*

  • 5

    Logged 100 jumps in the last 12 months

  • 6

    A minimum of three years in parachuting

  • 7

    Presented a FAA Class 3 Medical Certificate or military or foreign equivalent

Course fee is $750 (minimum of 2 students) + jumps tickets + packing + SIGMA rig rental.  *Course fees for 1 on 1 is $1,100 and is based on availability.

A $350 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your slot.  Deposit goes towards Course Fees upon the start of the course.

The rig rental will be $50 per jump with rental agreement.  Price varies.

A minimum of 10 jump are required to complete course (19 jump tickets): 1 tandem front ride, 1 solo jump + 3 additional Proficiency Jumps with an Evaluator, then 5 additional Post-Course Jumps.

The USPA rating fee is $60 and is payable upon successful completion of the course.

The UPT rating fee is $50 and is payable upon successful completion of the course

SIGMA Manual 

You also need to purchase flash cards for your SIGMA malfunctions, which are located in the SIGMA Manual. You will write the malfunction on one side of each flashcard, correct response on the opposite side. You will need a pack of 50 flashcards.  Bring this with you to the first day of class.

*If possible pack a tandem under the supervision of a rigger

What Is Required To Pass This Course:


  • 1

    10 jumps in total:

  • 2

    5 evaluation jumps under the supervision of or with an Instructor Examiner, these must be done with the Examiner present

  • 3

    5 practice jumps with a certified skydiver who has 100+ jumps.  Preferably to be done with an Examiner

  • 4

    A score of 80% of higher on the USPA Tandem Instructor open book exam.

  • 5

    The USPA Proficiency Card has to be signed off completely

  • 6

    Completed questions 1-5 & 1-103 of the SIGMA exam on a separate lined sheet of paper, ensure answers are LEGIBLE.  Write you name, date and page number at the top of EVERY exam page. Bring the Exam questions & answers with you to class

Course Schedule

Courses take a minimum of 4 days and will start at 8:30AM and generally run through 5:30 PM everyday.

Bring your USPA membership card, log book, payment, Proficiency Card with pre-requisites completed, FAA Medical and both USPA and UPT Open Book Exams Completed. This will be our first order of business before we start the course.
